ENDOSCOPY

ENDOSCOPY

Endoscopy is a medical procedure that involves the use of an endoscope, a flexible tube with a light and camera attached, to examine the interior of a hollow organ or cavity within the body. Endoscopy allows doctors to visually inspect and diagnose conditions in areas such as the digestive tract (esophagus, stomach, intestines), respiratory system (bronchi and lungs), urinary tract (bladder and urethra), and reproductive system (uterus and ovaries). It is commonly used to investigate symptoms like abdominal pain, difficulty swallowing, and gastrointestinal bleeding. Endoscopic procedures are minimally invasive, often performed on an outpatient basis, and may include therapeutic interventions like biopsies, removal of polyps, or placement of stents.
